Historical Village route is 3 or 4 days tour through the central part of Portugal, starting or ending in Lisbon or Oporto.

During this tour visitors will go to CASTELO DE VIDE, one of Portugal’s most attractive and underrated villages and MARVÃO, where it will be possible to explore the Castle and to enjoy the magnificent views over the surrounding areas.

A little further to the north, CASTELO NOVO, a mixture of experiences and emotions, IDANHA-A-VELHA, the ancient Egitania, a village that knew Romans, Visigoths, Arabs, Knights Templars and Lords of the War, and MONSANTO, a beautiful village featuring narrow streets carved from rock and granite houses squeezed between giant boulders, which look like a real life Bedrock. At the top of the 400 feet high hill stands a very old square castle, from the 12th century, built by the Templars Grand Master.

Close from Monsanto is PENHA GARCIA located on the slopes of a hill, with streets flanked by whitewashed painted houses, SORTELHA a place that keeps its medieval features intact and the charming hilltop BELMONTE with its excellent Jewish Museum and the castle. After crossing National Park of Serra da Estrela, stop at PIODÃO, known as “Christmas Crib Village” worth also a visit.
